I remember waiting with anticipation the two weeks leading up to the Super Bowl. I find it now that I don't even think about it as the game has changed so much for the worse in my opinion.

Too many commercials.
Too many play review delays.
Too many penalties.

It just isn't the same game. I know why the game has changed but it's just not that fun anymore. I'd much rather watch the unpredictability of college football.

its a spectacle. my wife cares about the halftime show, go to a party and people barely watch the game.
commercials are more important than the game itself...its a little bit much for me.
i think new years day is the best day of football, the super bowl itself is too much of everything else going on.
thank god caps play the pens at 12:30 super bowl sunday cause otherwise your waiting around all day for the damn thing to start without anything else on.

For three years now I haven’t watched a regular season game fully. I’ll tune in here and there for a little bit and I keep up somewhat throughout the season to know who’s good. Also hadn’t watched a playoff game from beginning to end except when the the Chiefs played the Texans this year. The Super Bowls I have stayed tuned in.

Various reasons why I’ve gravitated away from tuning in the NFL as much anymore and yes the kneeling thing was one of a few. The kneeling thing seems to have tapered off quite a bit though. I just rather spend more time doing things with my kids, getting things done around the house, or just catching up on errands.

Saturdays is more my football day watching college. By Sunday I’m usually burnt out with football and just would rather do other things now.

On sundays I have the NFL games on in the background but mainly to see how my fantasy team is doing. I don't make a point to watch it.

College football is about the only sport I truly follow, love it

Yes and no.

I used to LOVE watching dolphins games every Sunday where i dont even want to hear someone talking during the game as i wanted to hear the broadcast.

I think as we get older, we have different priorities in life. I still enjoy watching NFL red zone (when i can access it) during the last hour of games. However, i feel guilty staying home on a sunday (with no dolphins game on) and just watching football.

Of course i will watch the game on sunday and NOT change the channel. However if this were week 13 and it was a sunday nite football game, i would watch my dvr shows and watch the conclusion of this game once i finished my shows. Plus if i fall asleep before the game is over, then no biggie.

Many people asked me what i was doing for the super bowl. I'm just staying home and watching the game. Nothing fancy. To me the super bowl is like new years eve and valentines day. Just another day. Dont have to do anything fancy.

(the only thing i'm kicking myself for is NOT going down to the NFL experience this weekend down here. I know a bunch of people who went and said it was a pretty fun family day)

I agree 100% Penalties and the refs affect too many outcomes! Two non blindside calls affected the Bills and Saints playoff games. Everytime there's a long play, you can't even cheer because you have to pause and see if there's a flag. That's why I watch more Tennis, golf and UFC (Always loved UFC)

I wager on the NFL but rarely watch the games.

NFL is boring to me.

I sure as hell wouldn't pay $6,410 for a ticket (average according
to StubHub for the Super Bowl).

The commissioner said the other day the NFL usually makes well over $1B in profit during Super Bowl week.

Yeah, charging $5,600,000 for a 30-second ad will do that.

54 ads during this year's game.

I still love the Super Bowl. And think football is still the best spectator sport.

I had big assed parties for years. Still have the party but much smaller and much more tame now.

Looking forward to a great game tomorrow.

PS I've been to three Super Bowls. The parties that go on during the week of the game are often pretty special. The pageantry of the show and how it comes together is pretty amazing too. The flyover is spectacular.

If you like to party, there is nothing like the Super Bowl. Getting too old to enjoy it the way I once did.

'88, '89, '90

San Diego, Miami, New Orleans

Washington with Doug Williams and Timmy Smith smudged Denver. Took a limo from Vegas to San Diego.

Joe Montana drove the Niners down the field about 90 yards to beat Cincy with Boomer Esiason and Icky Woods by scoring a TD with seconds left on the clock. Stayed on the beach in Miami.

The Niners destroyed Denver 55-10. Remember walking by the "Denver hotel" the day before and the day after the game. The day before the fans were all rowdy and boastful. The day after they were all hung over and seemed to just want to get the hell out of New Orleans.

Had a lot of fun living large in those days. Always went to Vegas for several days before each Super Bowl. All memories now.

i don't give a shit about NFL or any mainstream sport except baseball. Jai alai is my favorite sport, but only remains on broken legs around Miami
